The average lifespan of a furnace is 15-20 years.
From temperature regulation to air flow, your furnace is arguably the most important unit for comfortable living.
To keep your furnace running smoothly and efficiently, we recommend filter checks monthly, or at the very least, every 3 months.
Filter inspections are easy to do without technical knowledge, and if your filter is not properly cleaned or changed, it may affect your entire HVAC system. The longevity of your HVAC system (heating, cooling, and ventilation) is anchored by this simple task you can perform yourself!
A dirty filter may over-labour your motor/fan, consuming more energy, increasing your utility bill, not properly heating or cooling, and possibly destroying your entire system. It may also affect air quality and trigger medical conditions like asthma.
For ideal performance, and to increase the lifespan of your furnace, we recommend annual inspections from our professionals in addition to your self-checks. These inspections may save you time and money in the future, and some warranties may even require them in order to be valid.
In Calgary’s inconsistent climate of very cold winters and often hot summers, we especially recommend your checks be performed during these significant weather changes.
